Tottenham Hotspur v Watford Monday at 8 pm.

Today (28th) Liverpool drew with Stoke City (a shock result), which means that we have two games over them with a four-point gap to make up. Even though the Watford game is essential, because of the Liverpool result, it has become doubly important now because we can leapfrog Liverpool if we win our games in hand. Then there is Chelsea, who are currently playing Swansea at Swansea’s ground and if they should win the, then they would be 2 points behind us. All complicated arithmetic, but at this time of the season, nothing is impossible or can be ruled out.

Our last match was against United, who knocked us out of the cup and before that struggling Brighton held us to a draw at their ground in the league. We can’t afford to lose any of the last four games left (Watford (h), WBA (a), Newcastle United (H) and finally Leicester City (h)).

We should have a strong squad against Watford with only Winks and Rose in doubt. Watford who are 38 pts should be safe, but, again, nothing is 100%.

Spurs need to shake off their last couple of jitters and come out confident, strong and mentally prepared. If Kane isn’t 100%, then he should be dropped. We have plenty of cover if he isn’t fit.

The reverse fixture this season we were held to a draw with one of our players sent off. A game we should have won and which would have changed the dynamics of the top four positions.

So a must-win game for us. We have the quality to do it and must do it if we want to finish in the top four and possibly in second or third spot.

Arsenal play United this weekend and an Arsenal win would stop United dead in their tracks, and if they should do it then it would be Arsenal’home, and don’t forget that WBA are also on a good run, beating Newcastle United today, and next week we travel away to face the reinvigorated team under their new manager (or newish manager).
s first win away this year. But in football anything is possible, and we must remember that ourselves when we face Watford at

When this season is over, all we’ve got to do is count the days for next season and a new home and hopefully a stronger squad challenging for top honours.

Until we meet again, take care and all the best,
Don Scully
