When Pochettino was sacked all those years ago, there was a replacement ready to take over, like a vulture watching its prey and then suddenly swooping. Mourinho took over, and before you could settle in your comfortable slippers and watch all the trophies start to pile up, he quickly disappeared as if Genie’s wand was ferociously waved. Then child services were called promptly by Levy to see if they had somebody competent to take over managing the senior squad (until he could find another failure). Low and behold, that child was found, and he took charge with various degrees of failures and successes. In the meantime, Levy looked here, there and everywhere for a manager and thought, yes, I’ll get that sacked fellow back. Pochettino said “yes,” “no,” depending on what paper you read… it was also reported that Poch told PSG that he wanted to leave for Spurs, only PSG denied it, then other names were put in the firing line. The clock ticks; as seconds, minutes and hours go by… even days, the papers kept changing names in their ever degreasing names-games-circles.
Closer to home, we have fan journalist (Peter J Arnold) – on this blog no less – writing about the future is bright under Levy and that our one trophy under him is a success! WTF? To read that article, click on the link "HERE", so you can laugh along, as well!
It is not as if we’ve just hatched out of an egg and are learning how to walk. No, we’ve been going since 1882 (139 years ago). We don’t want to wait until the future to see success (10 or more years down the line, according to Peter J)… the future only means becoming decrepit as we march to our deaths. We want success now, and where is Levy in all this? Twenty years in charge, one trophy and one cash cow Arena to help expand his pockets. The management of the team has turned Spurs into a revolving door of failures and laughs.
After last season’s miserable pony trek; (Mourinho sacked), beaten in a Final, many managers proposed as we gradually slid down the league table. Then we end by hitting a new competition (Europa Second League) for failures, has-beens and wrecks (yes, the Gooners failed to get into the failed league). If you are a Spurs fan, you just want to cry. At least we haven’t sunk as low as the Gooners, which is one saving grace! As everything around us starts to fall apart, there is always something to smile about!
Those rubber necking fans, directors who are taking us on a Merry-Go-Round, failed competitions that have just started up and now a name that has started to define us; “Spurs” is just making my head shake with anger. Where is it all going to end? Certainly not as Peter J Arnold prophesied. The only thing that Peter J and Mason can hope for is that their parents stop clutching their necks tightly (thus slowing the blood to the brain) as they are walked to and from Kindergarten.
Now, where is that bottle of anti-depressants?
All said, of course, in the best possible taste (as Cupid Stunt would say!)
