Levy, new stadium, pay rise and all that goes with it.

Hi all,

It seems that the Spurs trolls on social media are up in arms about Daniel Levy’s payday and not paying the top players what “they” think they should have. There are two different things here. First, his payment is associated with what he has built at Tottenham (new stadium and stability) and his management of it. Players wages are something entirely different and don’t forget that when they sign for the club (the player, that is), they know precisely what they are getting, nevertheless, success can give you a pay rise/ bonus, and that is exactly what they’ve had (even though there could be more on the way).

Because Toby wants above and beyond the average pay and bonuses and isn’t getting it,  it has nothing to do with what the chairman is getting. Toby is a mercenary and is known for not stopping at clubs, just getting what he can and then goes. Added to his age and how well his replacement is doing then the question is; do we really want him? I say no, and it looks like he could be on his way (not because of my say so, though).

As for the £306 revenue, as Levy has stated, he has to ensure “future stability,” and again I agree. Once the ground has been paid for it might then be time to revisit the wage structure again.

Some Spurs Facebook pages just have Levy hatters for the sake of it or a lack of understanding how business works. In today’s society business and football have to go hand in hand. Numskulls have no grasp of business acumen. Give a calculator to a Neanderthal, and he will think he is a genius, without knowing how to use what he has got in his hand, he just presses a button and the light goes on, and that is it.

Sad to hear about Ray Wilkins. A great player and servant to the game. I had seen him play many times for his clubs and England.

The installation of seats etc. is coming on well in the new stadium. If all goes well we should be sitting in our new seats by September.

Rumours that Pochettino and some players will be getting a pay rise, at the moment that is just paper speculation. When or if I hear more then I shall let you good people know.

I’ve got my ticket for the FA Cup Semi-Final against United. It should be a glorious day. Can’t wait until my bum is on the seat and we are off. Before that, there is a matter of the League. One mouthful at a time, let us worry about the Semi-Final when it arrives. We need to carry on regardless and fight for every point. The biggy will be against City, but never lose sight of the smaller fish, they can be the most dangerous at times.

On an entirely different matter; weather. It seems we’ve gone past the worst of it and heading for a warmer climate. That also should be good news for stadium work.

Finally: if you are interested, there are still seats available in the Premium section. Not only does the price of that ticket include all home games, but you will be first in the queue for Semi-Final and Final games (providing Spurs are playing and you are a member, of course). Then there is the food... oh, yeah!

All the best,

Don Scully
