Tottenham Hotspur 2 Huddersfield Town 0

Where do we start? With our superb win yesterday or today’s football activities? They are all relevant to Spurs. Allow us to begin with our favourite bogey team Arsenal. Arsenal took on Brighton away and came away with a 2-1 defeat. That leaves them 13 points adrift of us. Then Chelsea took on City, on City’s turf, and lost 1-0. That leaves them 5 points behind us. So Sunday was a good day for our rivals, or to be fair, a good day for us. Tomorrow United take on Palace.

Back to us. Yesterday we outplayed Huddersfield Town to collect 3 points and maintain our 4th place position. Only one point behind third-placed United and 2 pts behind second-placed Liverpool (who beat Newcastle 2-0 yesterday).

Son scored our first goal in the 54th minutes. The second half came and still dominating the match Harry Kane gave a beautiful pass to Son who scored his second goal. A few stunning saves by Lloris and everybody went home happy.

We are undefeated this year and have one of the best runs since 1967 (the year we won the FA Cup against Chelsea). And we’ve beaten some great teams on our way. On Wednesday we face Juventus, with both sides going through an unbeaten run. Then we meet Swansea in the FA Cup quarter-finals. The funny thing was that it all started with the press – at the beginning of the season – endlessly writing that we were jinxed at Wembley and we would go to our new stadium in tears. Yes, but those tears are tears of joy and hope.

As we stand at this moment in time we can dream the impossible dream and think of trophies and high league positions. With United and Liverpool ahead of us it is not inconceivable that we leapfrogged them and end just below City in the final calculations.

As a football team, we don’t just have to look at this season, but the many seasons ahead of us. We’ve got a young side and a great manager. On top of that a 62,000 seater stadium waiting for us next season. It looks like Christmas has come early.

For so many years we’ve been in the shadows of Chelsea and Arsenal, and now our league position has created a shadow over them. And United and Liverpool could be joining them. Happy times to be a Spurs supporter. But then again, I’ve always been comfortable being a lifelong Spurs supporter.
Let them bring it on, we are ready
.

Yours, Don Scully
