Swansea City 0 Tottenham Hotspur 3 F A Cup Quarter-Finals

We came, we saw and now conquered, thus putting us into the Semi-final of the FA Cup), on a neutral ground (i.e. Wembley).

Goals from Eriksen (twice) and Lamela put an end to Swansea’s Cup hopes. They can now concentrate on surviving in the Premier League. We came for a purpose, and we achieve that purpose. If we are to win a trophy this season, then this is the only hope we’ve got.

Chelsea, United and Southampton are also through and looking for silver, as we are. Chelsea will face Southampton (an easy match on paper), and United will meet us, who we beat at Wembley (the natural ground).

This year we are unbeaten in the league and unbeaten in the FA Cup. The only defeats we’ve suffered at Wembley was our first game in the Premier League, and that was against Chelsea (who we face next in the league, away), Juventus in the UEFA Champions League and West Ham United in the Mickey Mouse tournament, known as the League Cup. In all competitions (i.e. League) we’ve only been beaten four times away. Overall that isn’t a bad record. Seeing as we have had the upheaval of moving grounds.

I was surprised that we put Vorm in goal, instead of Lloris, but he did the job and must be congratulated for it. It will be interesting to see if he keeps his place when we face United. The rest of the team, no complaints from me. And don’t forget Harry wasn’t available because of injury. Whether he will be available when we face United, we will have to wait and see. I can’t see him being ready for the Chelsea game. But in Son, we’ve got a good deputy.

The only slight of the weekend was Liverpool thrashing Watford to leapfrog over us, pushing us into fourth. But we’ve got a game in hand.

So now we are through we can concentrate on preparing to meet Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and trying to take away three points from our encounter.

The Brighton game has been cancelled because it clashed with our FA Cup semi-final. That means we’ve not got two league games awaiting fixture dates (the other is Newcastle United).
We have no more matches for this month (next weekend is designated an International game, and no doubt will feature some of our players).

So there you have it. Overall a good result, good weekend (apart from the Liverpool game) and good prospects ahead. Until then, unless I’ve got something to report, I shall go back to my day job and earn a crust or two. As for you, my readership, enjoy the rest of March, the cold weather is rescinding and all back to normal soon (this week, hopefully). In fact, we should have some warmer weather ahead. Summer or spring or whatever is approaching, and as time goes by we get nearer to the completion of our new stadium. So much to look forward to this year.

Until we meet again, don’t know where, but we shall meet again some sunny day (not winter, as that awaits us at the end of this year).

Yours Truly,

Don Scully
