We started off OK, then the walls caved in. We were humbled against the team that will win the league in May – if not well before. I said before this game that we would win 3-1, now, my prediction looks pretty stupid as we got the one and they got four.

After this devastating defeat, what are our hopes now? Well, we certainly ain’t going to win the league and there are question marks in whether we can get into the top four or even a Europa league placing.

If anybody has any chance of rising above the rest they need a great squad, I thought we had one – at least a decent one – but this match has blown that thought away.
The only positive thing I can say is that even though City are ahead of everybody else, outside of them there isn’t anything special. We can fight back, at the same time Pochettino hasn’t got a great record against the top six.

If you want me to say something position, then let us hope that next year will see a change in Spurs fortunes. Pochettino can change it all around, but he needs the team behind him, and at the moment their thoughts are all in different directions.

On Saturday we face a very good Burnley team, who are at home. They are also above us in the league. Yes, Burnley are above us in the league, along with six other teams. Last season we thought high, expected a lot and so far got bugger all. We were humiliated in the League Cup, the only consolation, we topped group H in the Champions League, and that was because the other 3 teams weren’t on top form.

The winter transfer market opens in January and we need to take a serious look at what is available. We also need to sort out Toby’s contract as well.

Moving to the New White Hart Lane was supposed to be big fanfare, at the moment the only exciting thing we could take from this season’s performance is ourselves.

Somebody once said, “it doesn’t rain, it pours.” And that is certainly happening over the heads of Spurs. In bucket loads.

On social media, the scribblers are out and shouting “what a load of shite” and other worse expletives. One Spurs supporter even said, “it feels like I have had my testicles cut off and fed to my cat Percy”. A bit exaggerated, but if we keep going down the path, we are going, then it will be a lot worse. More decapitation than testicle removing… and trust me, not a pleasant experience. More so when you wake up and find yourself dead as well.

But let us get a grip, we’ve only lost five matches and there is still a long way to go, yes, always an optimist. Supporting Spurs you’ve got to be.

Take care, and just remember, it can only get better… unless you suddenly have a heart-attack and die, then you will never see Spurs bounce back from this catastrophe.

Our next match is against Burnley, let us hope we can go into Christmas with some dignity and a clean arse.

 Don Scully.
