We didn't lose against Watford - but drew - and we had a player sent off. So, shouldn't we be happy? No. We dropped 2 points and the other teams above us went further away. All this won't be good reading for anybody. We should have done better if we have high hopes, and at the moment that is a long way away.
Jan Vertonghen said that they have "sussed out the way we played," ok, so why haven't we sussed out the way Watford played? It works both ways. And what about the other top 5 teams? Why hasn't anybody sussed them out? The more you look into that statement the more questions one asks. Being a top team who challenges for things means getting on top of other teams thinking. They say that we won in 1950/1951 season because nobody sussed us out, then they did the following seasons. OK, then it would be time to adapt so that we are always on top.
They scored and we equalised through a Son. OK, so far. Then we should have pressed them. We pressed them but couldn't score another goal, then we got one of our players sent off.
So where do we go from here? On Wednesday we are back in Europe, wouldn't be ironic if we scored a lot of goals. Then the questions start all over again. Somebody should have told the players that our bread and butter football should be a priority. It is through a top placing in the league that we can go in other directions. Then on Saturday we return to the league again and face Stoke City. For Christ sake we've got to win that one otherwise we are in serious trouble.
Let us suss them out before they suss us out and score a few goals.
A very angry and rattled Don Scully.
