Straight after the Stoke victory, we get another one, beating  Brighton 2-0. Then, within a week we face City, current league leaders. Will we get a hat-trick of wins or will flounder? I believe we can win that match, but that is one to discuss at a later date, or be more precise, tomorrow.

Yesterday we beat Chris Haughton’s Brighton by two goals. A manager who has done a fantastic job on little means. But that wasn’t going to stop Haughton’s side trying to sneak the points, and indeed they did try. But it wasn’t to be.

Spurs showed their nervousness at the beginning and Brighton held steadily. Then up popped Serge Aurier scored. Brighton battled for the equaliser until Son put an end to their hopes. Full credit to Brighton they did come to a win.

Many Spurs fans were very critical of the way the team played, but all wins count and count they did.
Lamela, who started the game, had a good game and must be pleased with his performance after such a long lay-off. Alli was on the bench – but wasn’t happy – but did come on to contribute and nearly scored himself. All great preparations for Saturday’s encounter with the runaway league leaders City.
Brighton – for all their hard work – remain in 13th position and hoping that they won’t end up going back from where they came from. As for Chris Haughton, his outlook should be bright and  I don’t think it will be long before he manages a bit club.

Just a matter of interest, there has been some great talk behind the scenes of Bale coming to Spurs. Conflicting reports from deep within the heart of Tottenham. Some say it is already a done deal, others say… no way. Levy is keeping tight-lipped, which might tell you something, if you know Daniel Levy. Even though he has been criticised for Spurs wage structure he does do some very generous add-on. And Bale accepts that he will have to take a pay-cut. He also would like to move back to Spurs. We’ll have to wait and see.

Yours truly, Don Scully
