Spurs 4 Liverpool 1 Sunday 22nd October 2017

Last week we got our first home - league win - and this week we got our second. But we just didn't duplicate what we did last week but smashed it with a smile. Liverpool was regarded as one of the top teams to visit us at Wembley (I think that is pushing the boat out a bit). Nevertheless, they/ we did ourselves proud. After last weeks game, we hoped we would do one better (i.e. 2-0) but went for 3 extra goals, making it 4-1. After Real Madrid, we sent out a very important message to other league teams, that we are not here for the taking, but actually challenging for the title.

Two goals from the Tottenham striker helped smash Liverpool over a rock. Liverpool showed us their white flag as they battled to take control, but to no avail.

In front of the watching Diego Maradona, Harry Kane put on an attacking masterclass. Kane, Heung-min Son and Dele Alli all scored in the first half, even though Liverpool got one back.

In the second half Kane added a second to secure a victory that will lead to further questions being asked about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s ability to organise a defence. But nothing must be taken away from this great Spurs performance. We deserved this win. The last time we beat them was in 2012. Then times were different. Our squad is better now with a great manager at the helm.

The crowd went wild when the first goal went in and then it got better and better. There were times when Liverpool had more possession, but they didn't seem to know what to do with it. Substitute after substitute tried to get another goal, but nothing. Liverpool just looked on gormless. Klopp scratched his head and thought, what has he got here. After their 7-00 European excursion, he probably thought he could pick something up here. How wrong he was.

The 80,000 plus crowd couldn't wait for either the whistle to go or another goal. Second half Spurs took their foot off the peddle and they now had more important things to think about over the next couple of days. Another home match in the League Cup against West Ham and then an away fixture against the team that Huddersfield beat to throw United's title challenge up in the air.

So, it has been a good month and it can only get better. And since our home defeat against Chelsea, we have got better, while Chelsea has gone into reverse. We must keep up the momentum. We can't afford to take our eyes off the ball otherwise we could lose sight of the silverware.  Since Pochettino took over we've gone up and up and shined a beacon across the football world. We are here and we are not being to take any nonsense.

Yours Truly, Don Scully

Again I like to thank Tottenham Hotspur supporters' voice for kindly lending me their photos for this piece.
