Machester United 1 Spurs 0
I did say we would win 3-1 and now I've got egg on my face. That I don't mind (more so when somebody makes big predictions), but the question is now, where do we go from here?
We've lost two games in the league, but not poorly. In both games, we had most of the possession. That said, if we want to challenge for trophies we need to win matches like this. At the moment we are 8 pts behind City, who is in the lead, and now 3 pts behind United. On top of that, the ones below us (Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal) are catching up. We are three months into the league campaign and we still have a long way to go. So I am not overly concerned but Pochettino must start to think more deeply about his team selection and the campaign head. Yes, Kane was injured, and this wasn't the first time nor will it be the last time. Spurs have the squad it has got, and it is a good squad, so the selection must be considered when he, himself, questions the defeat.
As I said, we had 55% of the possession and had more shots on target. We played well, but couldn't score. Our next league game will be against Palace, who we must beat. A draw or a loss will seriously do us damage. We also must remember that even though Palace have a poor record they did beat last season's league champions. So they won't be easy pickings.
Our next match will be against Real Madrid and hopefully Kane will be back. But back or not we must get something out of this match. A big week this week.
Yours truly, Don Scully
