WEST HAM UNITED 2 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 3 at the London Stadium, Stratford.
Even though we've only been beaten once this season (against Premier League champions Chelsea) at home we are still in all competitions and have a 100% away record, but the talk is all about our home (Wembley) curse. That is now "home" Premier League curse, as we've won at Wembley in all other competitions. Of course, this is only to give the press something to talk about. Our performance home or away has been brilliant. Our draws at home only tell us how much respect other teams have for our performance. They come to defend and hope to go away with a point so park their tanks in front of the goal mouth.
Kane swung this game for Tottenham. Hammers manager's decision to replace the injured Michail Antonio with Carroll in the 28th-minute ultimately cost the Hammers the match and piled more pressure onto his own position. The Hammers had been on top before the change, but all their good work was undone just over 10 minutes after Carroll came off the bench as his team fell two goals behind. Carroll played a great pass into the middle of the pitch straight to Christian Eriksen. Eriksen picked out Dele Alli and he crossed for Kane to head the ball into the net.
Four minutes later, Carroll was caught out again. He failed to hold the ball up, Jan Vertonghen took it off him and strode forwards before playing in Alli. Joe Hart saved from an Alli shot, but Kane tapped in.
Carroll was the man Serge Aurier fouled twice in seven second-half minutes to earn a sending off and gave the Hammers a chance to come back fighting. But to no avail, as we hung on.Of Alli'sf his 17 Premier League assists, 11 of them have been for Kane and Alli has now been directly involved in 22 goals in 26 League games in 2017.
Before the game was even over (three minutes from the end) the West ham supporters started piling out, they had seen enough. But while they were leaving Kouyate scored to make it two. Carroll could have scored to equalise but managed to send the ball wide.
The match finished and a job well-done. As for West Ham and their manager - who are now in the relegation zone - it is only a matter of time before his position is talked about at board level. We also face West Ham in the League Cup in a couple of weeks, at Wembley. A mouthwatering encounter.
Even though we concede two goals and came close to drawing the match we ended up getting what we wanted; 3 points. We are still 5 points behind the leaders. Another away league match next week, this time against newly promoted Huddersfield Town, who, by the way, have had a good start to the season.
As you will see that after playing six games (3 home, 3 away) we are in a healthy 4th position and 5 points behind City & United. Two points League champions Chelsea in third place. Arsenal - I must point out - are in 12th position, 4 points behind us. So all smiles all the way around unless you support West Ham or Arsenal. We don't, and have a lot to cheer about. Our next game is in the European Champions league and against Apoel away. A good showing and a win will mean we would have beaten two teams in our group. But let us not count our chickens yet, unless they are Spurs ones (and they crow the loudest and are better fighters). So enjoy your weekend (what is left of it) and until wee meet again, enjoy!!! It has been a pleasure!!
