Let us talk about Vincent Janssen and his future at Spurs.

According to the Mirror (if they can be believed), Daniel Levy was left "furious" when Janssen rejected a late move away from the club. It was also claimed that he wasn't happy with the way he was treated. But other reports seem to say he is "content" and will fight for his place. Even though he has been left out of a Champions' league placing.

When he was spotted at AZ Alkmaar Levy was enthusiastic about him, so much so that he signed him up immediately. His contract is until the summer of 2020.

Janssen had a chance to sign for WBA, Stoke City or Brighton. To be honest, signing for one of those clubs is a step downwards. I would rather stay and fight for my place, so I am not surprised he is staying put.

If Levy is unhappy there isn't much he can do. If he doesn't let him fight for his place then his value will go down. If he does fight and does well then his value will go up, then I doubt Spurs will want to sell him. Swings and roundabouts.

Yes, we've signed Fernando Llorente, but he is currently injured, aged 32 he might not be available for all matches (coming on as a sub in the final throws of a match to give us a boost). Then we will have to turn to Janssen. I was surprised when we played Burnley he wasn't brought on. He would have been a better bet than one of the other subs that came on.

Daniel Levy signed him, and doesn't like it if people don't honour their contracts, he can't be too annoyed - if what you read is true - that Janssen wants to honour his contract with Spurs.

The last game I went to at Wembley I got talking to a Spurs legend Alan Gilzean and he told me that he thought Janssen was "too lightweight" and wrong for the club. But other club legends' and commentators have made the opposite comment. Personally, I think he should be given a chance if such a chance arises.
