FULL-TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Swansea City

Spurs threw everything but the kitchen sink at Swansea. We had 75% of the match, aimed more goals at their net. But we still couldn't score. In all Wembley games this season we've been far superior, but just couldn't get the rub of the green. We've certainly got the team and squad to challenge for the title. Just the luck, is all we need.

Mauricio Pochettino said on that he hoped Tottenham's thrilling 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund would end all talk of a Wembley hoodoo, and so did I, but it was back to business as usual, still waiting for our first league win.
..
Swansea presented a different challenge, but by parking the bus at Wembley, Paul Clement, their manager, brought Tottenham's upwards momentum to a speedy halt. They were stymied by a stubborn defence in general, and by Lukasz Fabianski in particular, who played a blinder. Their Polish goalkeeper was in good form, with superb saves to deny Spurs.

Alli, back after his suspension volleyed wide, before Fabianski thwarted Kane and Son in quick time. Kane's free-kick was heading towards the corner of the goal before Fabianski dived to his left to push the ball away, and the Polish keeper made another save from Son.

No matter how much they attacked their goal frustration grew on the pitch. The fans, themselves, were cheering the team on, shouting words of support or tactical change, but to no avail. Kane shot wide from 25 yards, Trippier went agonisingly close with a beautiful shot from 30 yards, Kyle Naughton, Spurs former player slipped to allow Aurier a shot, but only got the side netting. You even noticed that Spurs players looked towards the heavens for guidance, but nothing. Then was it, the Swansea supporters let out a cheer for getting such a good point and holding Spurs at Wembley. Heads down, at least from the fans, as they slowly made their way home, and to discuss what they thought went wrong.

Now we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and prepare for Tuesday and Barnsley in the cup, then back to the league and to face 17th place West Ham United on Saturday, early morning kick off. Luckily for us, that is away, which we don't have problems with. Is our new fortress away matches? If we can combine that with Wembley wins then we've won the league. Anyway, let us not get too far ahead of ourselves and one game at a time. See you all on Tuesday.
