Premier League Spurs v Chelsea, at Wembley
Spurs v Chelsea, first Wembley home league match |
Not a match I would have preferred, however, and saying that, after Chelsea's defeat of their opening league game (against Burnley 2-3) maybe we are in a ripe position to take them on.
We have a late fitness test for our full-back Kieran Trippier (who had an ankle issue). Rose, Lamela and Nkoudou are still injured.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have wing-back Victor Moses back from a ban, but the two players that were sent off from last Saturday's game, against Burnley, Cahill and Fabregas, are suspended. Pedro is in doubt. Alvaro Morata may make his first league start after scoring against Burnley last weekend.
Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko returned to training this week following injury layoffs, but neither are fully fit. Hazard will not be risked but Bakayoko could be available on Sunday; by risking him it shows a sign of desperation.
I am looking forward to the match and hope everything goes to plan. Spurs need to hit the home road running, and Chelsea needs to get their season back on track. As they say, anything can happen in the next 90 minutes (paraphrasing the opening lines of Stingray). So let us get behind our team with a mighty roar that will frighten the Chelsea supporters that are still back at their Stamford Bridge home.
